Wait longer than 5 days to strip maybe 3 to 4 Weeks. I like to go three and a half. The fish will do fine if you strip out just don't keep it out of water for long

Seeing as this actually happens in the wild my guess is yes. I will let someone else chime in on this one. ::)

I typically wait between 10-14 days just so the recovery time for the female is shorter.

When you are stripping fry, try using a paperclip or something similar to gently pry open the bottom part of the fishes jaw.  BE CAREFUL!  You don't want to damage their jaw by pulling it down too far, so take your time.

Typically, I will get a shallow container (think cool whip container) and fill it with tank water.  I will then put the female in there, and hold her at a slight downward angle and open her mouth.  If it seems like there are fry in there that don't want to come out, I'll pull her out of the water (still with her head down and mouth open) a couple of times to let gravity do the trick.

You could try a breeder net, or put them in a small tank on their own (like a 2.5, 5 or 10 gallon).

I would feed them small bits of spirulina flake, just make sure you don't overfeed, just like you would for adults.

This can hold the fry too.  It hangs on the tank and water flow comes through the main tank using an airline.  Good luck.
