What size does the dollar a gallon go up to? I thought it stopped at the 40 gal breeder?
55 gallons

... I'd be pretty excited if I could get a new 240 or a 320 for $1/gallon.  8)

I picked up a 55 as a grow out tank for my angels.   Anyone in or near Lansing have a decent metal stand? I can put it on the bottom rack of the 55 which was my original intention. Now I've decided I'd rather have it closer to eye level.
Yes, Pauline - get another iron for the new one.... That way you can go get two more 55's,  for the bottoms of both! ;) :P

I picked up 4-40B, 6-20L, and 4-10's.  By the way Pet Supplies Plus will price match the $1/per gallon sale if you have a copy of the add page.

I could only see doing that if it was acrylic!
I was at an auction earlier this year that had a 12,000 gallon water storage tank. I was this '||' close to buying it for cichlids, but I couldn't figure out a good way to get the fish back out of it since the lid on top was about 7' high and 18" round, while the drain at the bottom about 2"-2.5". Too small to climb in and too small to drain them back out.

I've solved your problem Ron.  Buy two!  Dig out a hole to put a large rubbermaid tub into by the drain of tank #1, and when you want to get fish out, start draining into the rubbermaid tub with a net hanging in the stream of the water flowing out of tank #1 to catch fish.  Then you use a submersible pump to move the water from the rubbermaid tub to storage tank #2.

Now you just have to figure out how to heat it  ;)

I'd considered just using a net over the drain to catch all the fish, but was concerned that they would either grow too fast to fit through the small drain or that the force of the water rushing out due to the water pressure would cause fish to scrape against the sides and become injured when emptying the tank.

I wasn't going to heat it - it'd have been a summer-only setup. Here's an example of what I was looking at:

Admitting it is the first step to recovery! You might want to buy just one more tank before you give it up for good. :D
