Unfamiliar fish issue? Help appreciated
« on: May 01, 2016, 09:03:11 PM »
My apologies for appearing to be a rookie but I have a male in my group that is starting to concern me and am hoping one of the more advanced hobbyist could give me a hand.  History , four males and 12 females in this group, lethrinops green face, breeding like crazy everyone eating fine, acting normal but one male had what I can only describe as reverse bloat, just looking for some assistance on IDing the problem.   Thank You

No shame in being a rookie.  We've all started somewhere.

Its most likely internal parasites.  Do you have any meds on hand?

Sad part is I'm no rookie, just never seen anything like this.  Fortunate I suppose.  Treated with salt bath and three days later with melfix bath I believe it was. Always run cuprimine in the main display.

Still... I've been keeping fish for almost 30yrs & I'm terrible with disease diagnosis.

I do however know that 90% of the time a sunken belly means internal parasites.

Do you have Epsom salt on hand?
