Well now have my first spawn going on as I post this. Have three different colonies of Tropheus my first group to do their thing. Question for you Tropheus breeders, do I leave her in the tank to raise them? Take her out? How soon? Or strip this I really do not want to do. I have them in a 90 with eretmodus and petricola

You don't to strip them, but odds are with the first several holdings they will not carry them more than a couple days... Most of my tropheus tanks I don't strip them, but it took almost two years for them to hold and not eat the eggs/wigglers. I keep mine in 90g tanks with 15-16 fish.   Usually 1 to 5 sex ratio.

thanks it's what I have been reading. I Just started into these guys about six months ago. So everything is a new experience. They sure are a cool fish. Will get more. I live in Midland would love to see your groups.

Don't take her out.   You can strip her if you have a means to tumble the eggs.  If you don't wait a little over 2 weeks.

Have any pictures?  Have not heard of this collection point. Is spelling correct? There is a Tropheus sp. "Red" (Chipimbi)

Sorry I do in fact have the Chipimbi. However if you google kipimbi there is one.
Thanks for your advice. I guess from reading they will probably not make it the first couple of spawns.

I'd say hit or miss on tropheus, I have species and a community troph tank. Surprisingly my comm. Tank has produced more fry than the species,and all females have carried all broods full term. Its an animal so unpredictable. My story is low stress on the holder I guess, or luck. My species tank which is mboko orange moorii is the tank where the holders ate first broods. Just monitor daily and do what you see and feel is best for the fish and fry.
