Can Fish live in an Inflatable swimming pool?
« on: March 08, 2016, 04:48:38 PM »
I was wondering whether anyone has tried keeping fish in inflatable swimming pools. I am just researching the idea of keeping one in my basement. Want to know whether it is safe for cichlids as long as filtration and temperature are good.

Never done it so can't say first hand, but just my thoughts. Could they live in it? Probably could, but my concern would be puncture from fish/fins, or heater/filter wearing a hole in it. Those little inflatable pools are not made all that durable.

IMO I'd look for a hard shell outdoor pond before an inflatable. You can get them locally on CL for $50 or there abouts for a decent size one.

Yes, you should be fine. Except for evaporation.  ;)

I agree on a plastic one, just check to see what it's made from. Plus you could use bulk heads on it....the inflatable one "no"....I knew someone that did and his pleco ate holes in it.....it was always getting mystery leaks too.  I also knew a guy, who put one of those big liner pools in his basement. It was up for years. He used the pool filter that came with it.
