Thank you everyone...it has been a pretty rotten last few days. I deeply miss my big bear every minute.
I was worried that I would unintentionally resent Hunter being around me but he misses his buddy too I think.
Again, thank you all for your kind words.

I know your pain man, I put my best friend Sam AKA "Bubba" down in early February.   I could deal with it if he would have died in his sleep but I had to make the call and wait 1 1/2 hrs until the appointment.  I literally could not talk.  I have watched men die in violent ways and once held a 9 year old until he died in my arms and although they were not pleasant experiences and affected me deeply, putting my canine friend down didn't even compare.  It was much much worse.  In fact to date it was the worse day of my life.  I was very surprised at the effect it had on me.  I am a tough guy yet I cried for days everytime I thought about it.   Some friends felt my pain, some thought I was nuts to be so attached to a dog.  Just wanted to let you know you weren't alone and are not nuts.   Be good to Hunter he is likely lost without Grizzly as well and doesnt understand anything other than his friend left.     I would also like to get another but just can't do it right at the moment as I'd still feel like I was replacing him and as all dog owners know, they all have to move on to the happy hunting grounds too soon and I am not sure I could do that again.  After a couple months I am getting over it but still miss him to no end as I am sure you will also always miss Grizzlybut it heals with time.  Just think more about the good ole days with him.

Good Luck Man!!
