All male peacock color down

I have 6 male peacocks that are about 3" each.  60 gallon tank.  60-80lbs. of texas holey rock.

They all came in displaying great coloration, but now only the dominant red shoulder has any color.

I expected to have a dominant fish, but I also was informed that if I purchased males that didn't look alike, they would also display colors.

Any ideas?  I have one colorful fish and 5 grey fish now.

Where did you buy them from and how long ago was it? If the down coloring is not from a dominate one picking on the rest then sometimes you'll get fish that are juiced if they were purchased from a place that just wants to move fish fast.

I got them from Bob Stevens, so I know that is not the case. 

I'm assuming it is because the red shoulder is dominating the tank.  I have no problem removing him, but will that just cause the next one to step up and once again I am left with one colorful fish, and 4 grey fish?

Add a couple more males. It seems like you don't have them packed enough

Welcome to the world of 'becarefull' what you buy because of the quaility.  When I first started I would go to someone's house to purchase a particular fish and be told it was that exact fish only to grow them up and the species be something else completely.  It only got worse and I had to learn the hard way.  If you want to save $$ and time don't get into the fish hobby.

Currently debating whether I'm going to stock more fish or sell them all and save money...

I'm not worried about the quality or species, just having some growing pains, but thanks for the warning.

I was thinking it may need a couple more, but wanted to ask before making that move.
