Well looks like he's a meat lover, just got him to eat three good size pieces of Krill.

Sounds like he's adjusting...couple more days and he should be comfortable in his new home.  Lucky fish, getting shrimp cocktail, next will be lobster and butter garlic sauce. Sounds like you have everything under control.....over the first hurtle....have continual good luck and understanding with your fronts. If they were like goldfish everyone would have them.

I'd suggest for a mixed-sex tank, that you try to keep a single "species" if possible. Otherwise, maybe try for an all male tank instead and keep the female with the haps?

Is that for aggression reasons or to make sure they don't cross breed?

Largely so they don't crossbreed. As already mentioned, putting just a single male with a single female might also result in a beat up female at some point.

Also was thinking maybe he just doesn't like being alone so thought about putting the female in with him for a bit to make him more comfortable?

I know I'm probably over thinking things and he'll probably be settled in soon but I just want to make sure I take care of him properly.
They are different than haps. In the wild they live in deep water, coming in at night to feed in shallower depths, before retreating to the deeper water again. They dislike bright lighting and are more prone to be skittish. On the plus side, they show a bit more personal emotion or attachment given time ... more like a dog, thinking and reacting, than a "feed me, feed me, feed me..." malawian at the front glass all the time.

Sounds like you have everything under control.....over the first hurtle....

Yep been finding that out man. If I walk up fast to his tank he just exposed like a funny car off the line leaving a cloud of sand when he takes off lol. Never seen a fish do that before.
