My understanding is that the white top afra is cynotilapia afra. I could be wrong of course.
A few fish and the desire for more.

Nope, two different genus as well as species. Metriaclima pulpican was formerly known as Pseudotropheus kingsizei.

There's two different fish. One has the tail edged in black & one doesn't.
I'll look later & see which is which, but I'm busy right now.

I beleive publican has the black edge and cyanotilapia hara does not as far as I know. I picked up some afra hara at an auction that turned out to be publican and picked up some new ones that are hara. The males are hard to tell apart but the females look pretty different.

Yep, that was it... C. hara does not have the black edged tail or black anal fin,  but M. pulpican does.

Where this person was probably confused is because Metriaclima pulpican was originally described as Cynotilapia pulpican.

Either way... the white top afra is Cynotilapia sp. 'Hara'  (obviously it may change once formerly described)
