Neptune Aquatics Vendor Table/Monthly Meetings Poll
« on: February 28, 2015, 11:59:40 AM »
Some of you may have noticed that I ran a vendor table at the latest MCAS auction selling Neptune Aquatics foods such as Plecocaine, various types of flakes, algae wafers, styx, and bytes. I expect to be doing the vendor table at future MCAS auctions as well.

I also want to point out that the pricing is all the same, I am in no way making any profit. I'm simply doing this for my good friend John as another alternative for you to get his great line of foods.
John has also donated to the clubs for raffle items at auctions and monthly meetings which help support our clubs.

Many of you asked me if the table would be set up at the MCA auctions....hence, this poll.

If these poll questions show strong interest from a positive standpoint maybe we can leave the decisions up to the Board of Directors to accommodate the wishes of the membership.

In case it's not obvious to someone, you can make multiple selections when voting.  ;)

Tony , I appreciate what you doing to help John.  The members have purchased many of his products either directly or through group buys.  I don't support setting up vendor tables at the meetings or auctions.  I feel it distracts from the meetings and what the club is doing at the meetings.  I am afraid it will lead to others wanting to set-up their own tables and sell goods.  I don't see a problem with you offering the products and deliver at the meeting as long is it is handled before or after the meeting.

Setting up tables at the auction may be an option, but I am concerned with it being a distraction...honestly 50/50 on auction portion of this proposal.

John, thanks for your input but nobody is suggesting setting up a vendor table at monthly meetings.
Just to clarify, having the foods available at meetings is exactly how you described, just offering the option to have members pick it up at the meetings....has been known to get extra people to attend the meetings that otherwise would not have attended.

Thanks for pointing that fact out Ron...just in case anyone missed the obvious where it states you can vote up to 3 times.
FYI, that statement disappears on each individual's screen after they vote.  ;)

I also want to mention that having a vendor table at the MCA auction does not matter one way or the other to me personally.
I will end up selling just as much for John with pre-ordered deliveries....but with the vendor table, at least the club would be able to charge a fee as well as typically getting donations from the vendor for the raffle.

Another little bit of info....there were quite a few people that contacted me prior to the MCAS auction that would not have been there if not for the fact they were coming to buy food.

Also, so there's no misunderstanding, I am totally against a vendor table that would sell cichlids, catfish, etc that are obvious auction material.

I started to edit that too, but didn't want to since somebody already voted for that option.

I think both statements need to be identical with the exception that they are opposite in meaning (if that makes sense).

Yes, I understand what you're meaning.  I just didn't wanna be the one changing an option somebody had already voted for.

You mean you don't want to edit the poll to reflect someone voting for something illegal or immoral concerning Omar and his goat?  :o :o :o :o :o

Presales for meeting or auction is fine, but I am not in favor of vendor tables of any kind at the auction as they deter from the auction and can negatively impact the event based on my experience.  This is more the reason to maybe hold a swap once a year.

Actually I had thought about editing the option with the most votes to "I'm in favor of the club renting a goat & having Josh preside over the meetings while seated on said goat."

My opinion is that I'm not opposed to a vendor table or two at the auction provided they aren't selling fish, and the items being sold are new (if drygoods are being sold).  I could see food, pleco caves, holey rock, etc. as an additional draw if it was advertised well in advance.
