Sand Substrait
« on: March 04, 2012, 07:27:38 PM »
I just got my new 150g tank and I want to put some other type of sand in it other than the white/black stuff I have now. I would prefer something that didnt float so easy. The Agra Cichlid Complete floats like crazy.

So I guess I'm going with pool filter sand or Play sand or.....Quickcreate All purpose sand (very white and fine)
I liked the quickcreate that I saw but I have no experience with any of these.
Any suggestions?

-BTW A big thanks goes out to Robmc13...Thanks for all the help today.
Nothing but a few empty tanks.

The play sand they sell at home depot is really nice.  It doesn’t take much cleaning to get the dust out of it.  I have been mixing it with the quikcrete tube sand since the tube sand has been mostly larger particles lately.  If you are going to put fish that sift sand the play sand works really nicely, my loaches and Cories really like it. It is pretty cheap too.

I've used Quikrete Play Sand quite a bit. Just rinse it well.

I have used the same as Turtleman and have been very happy with it.
