Lake Tanganyika cichlids
« on: December 19, 2014, 10:29:03 AM »
I just setup my 75g and am looking to stock it with all Lake Tang's. Going to go to Fantastic fins and pick up some Julies, Calvus, Comps, Gobys, and maybe some others. What other Lake Tang cichlids should I add to the mix? Looking for color and personality.

Thanks!

I would watch the gobies based on their requirement is a different diet then the others.  I have julies, calvus, and cyps in one of my tanks and works well.

Ok. Thanks didn't think of that. I saw someone who had a goby with the others so I assumed it was ok...hence his setup was well done. What is their diet opposed to the rest?

They are herbivore and the rest are carnivores.

Cyps are a good one.  The stay to the mid or top of the tank.

The smaller varieties of Cyps (malasa or utinta) would be fine as would Paracyps, but the jumbo Cyp. species can be boisterous and aggressive and bother other tankmates in a 75 gal. tank.
