Detroit Tigers...Move It-OR-Lose it.!!
« on: October 05, 2014, 12:43:23 AM »
The Tigers are up against the wall due to their "experience" they had with the Baltimore Orioles. Losing those 2-games was bad enough. Their Relief Pitching-is not much of a relief. :(  Sunday will be the day they either lose it all-or-win and continue the fight. I am hoping their pitcher "Price" will deliver a Win for them-so they can battle on and have a chance to even the series and perhaps win in Baltimore. Sunday will be the day if they Win or It's wait until next year. Hope they Win!! :)

I've heard some blaming this fiasco on Asmus and already wondering whether he should stay or leave.  But I believe the full weight of the Tiger failure in Baltimore is directly the result of Dombrowski.  You can have the best offense in the world, but without a defense (namely a successful bull pen) you will be much more likely to fail.  Maybe Dombrowski and the powers that be will use this off season to bring some reliable relief pitchers to Detroit.

*** I Agree... No Matter what happens today-the Tigers need to strengthen their Relief Pitching and pick-up 1-or-2 Starting Pitchers and increase their mid-lower batting order. Auto-Out Avila and Andrew are ineffective hitters...need to be traded. Adding a couple of power hitters would be good for the team. IF...the team improves by adding good relief pitchers and an additional starter and some good good hitters--they will have a much greater chance to Win it all--World Series is there...just have to Improve and Win it. I hope there is some Serious improvements. Porcello..not so sure about him--trading Doug Fister and keeping Porcello, was a mistake. Keeping Jonny Peralto would have been wise.!! We will see what the Detroit Tigers do today. Tigers -or- Kittens...it's in their hands. ***

The last thing we need is to waste money on a starter, we are already stacked with good starters. Most likely Max will be gone this off season so that was why he picked up Price was to replace Max. With the addition of the new kid Lobstein who looks pretty darn good, we'll still have the best starting line up in the MLB so it would be a waste to even think about another starter with Price, JV, Sanchez, Porcello and Lobstien. What we need is an entirely new bullpen. Chamberlin and Nathan were good in their day, but now are washed up and pretty much useless. Coke looks "okay" these days be he really was a train wreck for the first half, and Alburquerque is one of those guys that is very inconstant. If he's on then he's almost unhitable, but when he's off he's really off.

I had good expectations for Asumus when the year started, but my hopes for him have went down more and more with each game this season until the latest dumb call he made which cost us game two the other day. No one in their right mind should take out a pitcher (Sanchez) that has only thrown 30 pitches and not allowed a hit in two innings to put in a pitcher (Chamberlin) who could not even record a single out the previous game. The O's fans gave a standing ovation when he took out Sanchez and brought in Chamberlin because every person in that stadium knew what was about to happen. The only one that did not know was Ausmus. He's shown me he is nothing but a younger version of the ol' coot Jim Leyland with his "Set up man in the 8th no matter what" way of managing. Asumus had the tools to win game 2 by leaving Sanchez in at least through the 8th, but he stubborness to adhere to his set in stone pitching changes lost us that game.

If a manager would mange the pitching staff with common sense and only take out a pitcher when the pitcher gives you a reason to take him out then we might actually have a shot at the WS. Until then we are gonna be stuck barely making it to the post season.

Not sure if anyone else heard the Dave Dombrowski interview the other day, but he said Nathan will be the closer again next year. ....Un'friggin'real  :o :o :o Seriously could you even call him a "closer" this year? ;D
