PS Saulosi breeding group

Hello everyone!

I have decided to start to slim down my fish species and have decided to part with my group of 17 or so Ps. Saulosi. The group is extremely female heavy and only has about 4 or 5 boys swimming around. The group is from two different bloodlines and they have been producing so many fry for me that I have had a difficult time keeping up with stripping females. The are all right around 2.5-3 inches or so. I am asking $130 OBO for the group because they are so prolific. Located in Mount Pleasant MI and pick up is preferred but I am not opposed to meeting somewhere.

If they are not sold by 6/1 I will be taking them to my LFS.

Curious... What can u get from them at the LFS?

For a breeding group broken down into pairs I could get much more money than just to sell them to a member. I am just trying to help fellow hobbyists.

Ok.. I was thinking your group might be more in the $50 to maybe $75 range.. As u said they breed.. A lot. Cool fish but not sure you can get $130 or even close to that. As for the LFS if you can get anywhere near that for those fish, I would breed what you have and continue to sell them there. You could fund your hobby quite well. Good luck with the sale.. Always liked them. Thanks for offering them.

Let's keep this thread on topic, But before we do..... IMO $7.65ea isn't bad for a species on the C.A.R.E.S. list & it's a proven breeding group at that.   Hell they sell for $8-15 retail at 2"

I think it's hard just in finding a breeding group of Saulosi that won't wipe themselves out.  He should be asking for more.

They are a mix of F1's and F2's which I try not to do but I feel that having different bloodlines is important when breeding a fish so prolific. I am pretty sure a member is interested in them but we'll see. I have a couple breeding projects coming up in the near future that I would like to experiment with. I see bags of these fish go for next to nothing at auctions so I am just losing interest in them.

Fwiw you shouldn't lose interest in something because you see the price it is going. Fish at auctions prices swing a lot so one time it could be a lot next time a little.

Also, should not let auction prices discourage keeping and breeding fish that are on the CARES list as well.

x3. Focusing on things you like rather than what sell for the most leads to the greatest enjoyment IMO.

They are beautiful fish and I have enjoyed having them but I like Tangs much more. I do not have the time or the energy to invest in Tangs as of now though so I am moving on to Mbuna and other Cichlids that interest me. Everyone seems to keep and breed Saulosi so the appeal of the fish has been lowered for me.
