Kinda neat, you figure the more they mess with it the better the design will get.

Yep.  I'm impressed with the movements being somewhat realistic.  It's one thing to say "We want to make a robot that can swim" and another that actually has similar motion to some fish out in God's creation.  Also funny that after all these years our technology still imitates what we observe around us, e.g. suspension bridges modeled after spider webs and so on.  I guess if you find a good design it's hard to improve on it.  :)
