Question on internal parasites
« on: February 23, 2014, 08:37:07 PM »
I purchased a bunch of peacocks from oyers and when I got home I noticed their stomachs looked a little sunken.  Not sure if I just need to fatten them up or if I should treat them for internal parasites or what kind of precaution I should take.  I value everyone's opinions on here and just want the best for my fish.  They all are acting completely normal and eating healthy.  No flashing/darting or any abnormal behavior.  What should I do?

The fish look healthy to me,  be careful not to overfeed the fish,  it's hard to do but it is best for the fish..

Good Luck !

it'll probably take a week, but if they're eating, they'll fatten right up.  I'm with you and like to see them a little more full bellied than that.  But, yes, do use caution to not overfeed.

Thanks everyone for the input.  That's what I was hoping.  I never like having to use meds unless I absolutely have to.  I am a little worried that I sometimes over feed.  I have 13, 3" to 3-1/2" peacocks/haps in the tank and give them 2-3 pinches of nls twice a day and mix in spirulina flake and frozen foods a couple times a week.  I would guess I give on average 5 pellets per each fish per feeding. Am I over feeding?
