What's everybody 's favorite flake and pellet food and why? I will start.

Cobalt Aquatics Cichlid Flakes because they seem to bring out good color in my fry.
Therra A+ because it sinks and has garlic.

47 tanks= I feed a lot of different brands, sizes, flavors - everything from wet thumb pellets to southern delight

I probably have a can of every food you've heard of & some that you haven't.

Best flake - Spirulina 20 was my favorite until the company closed up. Since then it's come back, but I haven't tried it yet.

Best pellet - New Life Spectrum (NLS), specifically the 1mm. I however also use their 3mm product as well.  ;D

NLS 1mm pellet bought in bulk from Oyer's... The colors of all my fish have just popped since going back to this food.

I also use Spirulina Flakes bought in bulk from Wet Thumb, the fish need thier veggies for better health...

I use to use NLS 1mm pellets for my peacocks as well as Mbuna. For the past 3 months though I have switched to Plecocaine #4 pellets (bought a bunch of it during a group order here) and have been using that because it is much much cheaper t han NLS. Haven't noticed any loss in color at all since switching so I'll probably stay with plecocaine.

I alternate plecocaine with flake for one of my Frontosa groups. They were fed NLS before I got them & have No change in coloration.

I prefer the flavor of the Tetra flakes, especially when they're crunchy.  ;)

I use NLS almost exclusively - smaller pellets for smaller fish (e.g. 0.5mm for the smallest fish) then 1 or 2mm for my larger fish (biggest is ~5").  I also mix in the veggie sticks from Wet Thumb and algae wafers from various sources, particularly in the tanks with gobies/plecos/other more herbivorous fish.  But even my bichir will eat the algae wafers sometimes.

The dwarf cichlids (e.g. checkerboards currently, but apistos and other species as well) love bloodworms and so does my puffer.  So I would not rule out frozen foods.  I realize if you're talking about Africans you have to watch bloat for certain species if you feed bloodworms or blackworms or whatever.

I buy bulk spirulina and cichlid medium size pellets every time I roll through pruess.
Plus I feed NLS tiny pellets for everyone that can't eat the big stuff.
And whatever tropical flake I chose to pick up for my random tetras in the tank.

Mainly feed the bulk pellets and NLS though.

The pleco's like Hikari sinking algae wafers.  The cats (furry kind) do too.  They broke into the bag and had a snack.

NLS, aslo a mix or color max, cichlid flake, and super brine shrimp flake for the meat eaters.  Spirulina for the veggie eaters.
