Definitely some nice species shown..  Do you still have the L.elongatus?  How big did you get them & what was the setup?  I've thought about getting some in the past.

I saw a photo of elongatus taken just after being fished out of L Tanganyika from an old Buntbarsche bulletin, where the head was the size of a mans hand. Mine is only about 9" at the moment, he killed his mate not long ago after 3 spawns. 
When I got the pair he was about 6", had them in a 125gal, but now he's living in one of my sumps.

How long did it take for him to go from 6" to 9"?   Was the female keeping a somewhat similar growth pace?   Is He personable at all?

Took him about a year to grow 2", he is not particularly personable, kind of a lurk and strike predator.
Not overly aggressive, but the largest fry seemed to cannibalize the smaller, the spawn would start out in the hundreds, and by the time they were 1" there would be maybe 20.

Those etroplus are neat looking.  I thought about getting some a while back when I was trying orange chromides.

The canarensus very much remind me of their salt water cousins too, in individual movement and the way they shoal as a group.

Are you breeding Ctenochromis horei?  Was looking into getting a group of these.

The pair I have, spawned once at a very young age, so I separated her, but no fry.
They were just put back together recently, and haven't killed each other yet, so I'm cautiously optimistic.
He has also dug a few pits/bowers and since they are similar in size, she is holding her own so far, and there are plenty of spots to hide, and other cichlid distractions in the 150gal.
