is this an ivory head hap?
« on: December 09, 2013, 12:57:56 PM »
I saw this fish on aquabid and he calls it an ivory head hap but no scientific name. I thought the "ivory head haps" were copadichromis mloto undu. This doesn't look like it to me. Is it maybe a sp. Goldcrest? It looks nice, something I'd like to have one day.
I have about 18,000 rounds of .223 I'm  looking to get rid of, 100 rd bags. 1-4 bags $40 ea, 5-9 bags $38 ea, 10 or more bags $35 ea. I can't put this in the for sale section, its not fish related. No shipping.

There seems to be a lot of confusion when dealing with the Copadichromis genus & common names, especially when it comes to the different mlotos.

are they a "species only tank" kind of fish? or will they do alright in a community?

I`m following the advice I read witch is to house them with calmer African like peacocks ,  I`m thinking also maybe to put them with some Cyprochromis I think it shoukd be a good match.

Almost all mlotos I've had I've had better luck keping them in species only. Midnights seem very timid and would always hide.

x2. Not a very robust hap IMO. Reminded me more of keeping peacocks.

I have Copadichromis Kawanga Makonde and you wouldn't know I had them unless I told you they were in the tank... Cool looking fish but not worth me stressing them out in order to show someone they are actually in the tank. I have to leave to room when I feed them or the just stay hidden.

heh, I had to move my "mloto likoma" to a species tank because they were terrorizing my Placidochromis phenochilus, my Protomelas spilonotus, and my Aulonocara stuartgranti chipoka in a 125, even tried 3 different males, all the same story.  Guess my other guys despite being almost twice his size (except the Aulonocara) are pushovers.

Weird everytime I had those they would just die for no reason. Seem really sensitive so I gave up on Copadichromis trewavasae and went with the Kawanga.

That is weird, mine were pumping out fry so fast I had to pull the males out to another tank.  I also have the kawanga, A little less feisty, but not as prolific so far.
