My Avatar--who changed it..??
« on: October 17, 2013, 01:06:25 PM »
Someone who has access to my account changed my Avatar. I placed a new one a few minutes ago to replace-what I considered improper and Not funny at all.  The previous Avatar showed a tent with 2-men in the background holding hands.  You may think it's funny-but I do Not!!  Is this a common practice on this site to change a members Avatar and so forth as a joke..?? I would appreciate it if this was stopped. Thanks.  8)

To the best of my knowledge no admin/moderator would do such an act.

The next thing you need to do is change your password if you haven't yet. If someone gained access to your account, they could potentially change it again or lock you out.

If you use the same password on multiple sites, you may also have put yourself at additional risk. Someone who may have access to your account settings through another site could then use it to access additional accounts if you use the same credentials everywhere. (On this site such data is encrypted, but that might not be the case on other sites.)

Woah!  That's not right!  I'd definitely be changing my password.

Do you share a computer with anybody?

I did not do this, and quite frankly don't know you well enough to joke around with you like that.

The only two people who have the ability to do this would be me and Ron, and I'm not even sure if Ron has that level of access without checking.

I run 3 internet forums myself (rod building and fly fishing related forums) and I know on my IPB boards the only person that can change avatars is someone with an Admin permission mask, even supermoderators don't have that power. In the past I had some members that had avatars/signatures and "about me" stuff in their profiles changed. Most times it turned out to be someone that shared the computer with them at work and was able to get on because of the "remember me" log-in. I'd do what Ron said and change your password, plus if you share the computer with someone then don't use cookies to remember you at log in.

I checked the admin and moderator logs, it wasn't done on this end.

While on launch in Toronto over 8 years ago, I came back to my computer one time and found a very naked picture of some playboy playmate on my screen saver ! LMAO !

Thank the Lord - everyone that was on launch had a sense of humor !   That made my and everyone else's day !

I did end up finding out who did it and repaid the favor by having one of the local secretary's send an email to his home for his wife to see.  Good thing we were all friends because she was in on the joke and gave him a lot of crap when he got home.....
