how much salt?

I treated with E.salt while I was waiting for my Metro to arrive a few months back and if memory serves correct I believe I was doing a tablespoon per 10gallons at the advice of a few guys here. I'm sure someone else will advise for sure, but I think that's how much I was using if I remember correct.

Not unless they just started carrying it, because Matt/Sue at Royal are my main LFS I use and back in June when I asked for it they didn't carry it.

I got mine earlier in the year, when the meds were still out on the endcap instead of in the back of the center aisle.
I wonder why they stopped stocking it?

I think I got Metro at Kee's Pet Shop.

The sooner you start to treat the better off you are.

But, be prepared for the worst... once bloat happens... its usually not a good ending.

I'd do a QT tank personally if you have a spare 10 or 20g.  That way you're not wasting money treating all the healthy fish and then having to get the meds out of the water.

If it's the tablet kind of med (looks like a giant Smarty candy) then put a tablet in a plastic, add tank water, and add the food to soak/absorb while it's fizzing.  Then pour the mixture into the [QT] tank. I used this to treat my puffer for parasites and the food absorbs the medicine and then the fish eats it.  More targeted vs. just dumping into the tank.

If it's not a tablet style, I'm not sure.  :)

I agree, only treate the fish that need it.  Makes caring for that fish much easier.  Smaller water changes, less medicine, etc.

The metro I got was powder and I just dumped it in the hospital tank, didnt do anything special with the food.... as mine was not eating at all.

Wouldn't it better to treat the entire tank though rather than just the one fish that is showing signs? Because usually once a fish shows signs it is already close to the point of being too late sometimes. I was always told it is best to treat any fish that are in the tank to avoid any future lose of fish that may be infected but just not showing signs yet.

Yes bloat... and that's why I feel the fish should be taken out and treated in a hospital tank.

Now something like ich..  I would treat the entire tank.

And if you're treaching ich, personally I've never had to do meds - just crank the temp (84-86), step up the WCs, and wait.  But most of my experience has been with SA/CA cichlids and oddball fish, so I don't know about Africans and ich.  I assume the process would be the same.
