That's all I could think of as well, it's really weird  that's for sure. I told her to make sure the water is 50% deeper than his shell length like Emil said to do plus told her to get a turtle dock and get rid of the rock. So she's going to look for a dock tomorrow after school so hopefully this won't happen again. She said he seems to be doing fine so it looks like he's gonna be okay I guess.

You guys won't believe this, this is great but REALLY weird. Timmy is alive :o My sister just called me and said this morning after she found him upside down with all his legs just hanging limp that she took him out to make sure he was dead and he was completely limp, so she put him in a box in the backyard until my brother in law got home from work so they could bury him next to the pond. Get this, she said they opened the box so she could see him one last time and when they did he was staring at them :o :o He's alive and back inside huddeled up next to his heater right now. My Niece was so happy she started crying again lol.

What the heck is going on though?? Has anyone ever heard of a turtle doing this where he's completely limp like that? because my sister says she swears he was dead.

As to the tank size I was mistaken about the 20l, that was actually a 29g, but even at that just last week I was talking to her about getting her a 40b for him. We'll make sure he's doing okay and if so then I'll look into getting a 40b for her.

Did your sister do CPR?  Just kidding.

You probably need to watch it closely and make sure it isn't having odd drainage or "bubbles" from the nose or appears to be struggling to breathe.  It could be a sign it got sick with something like pneumonia and that's why it "passed out".

Good luck.  The heater is good if he is sick.

I told my sister to watch her back tonight because Timmy is probably PO'd that he woke up in a box outside and will come after her in her sleep tonight lol. I'll let her know you keep an eye out for for any of those symptoms from his nose. Thanks.

if he is really sluggish and stuff the next few days it could be a respiratory infection.

Very good point. I forgot about that (been a while). Bubbles from the nose would indicate some sort of infection.

Just spoke to her a few mins ago and he seems fine now. She said he's a little skidish but that's to be expected I would think since he woke up/came too in a box for a few hours.

I told her to keep an eye out for any signs of illness like you all said so shes doing that. I honestly think the thing was that he just flipped himself upside down and started to drown and luckly she took him out while he was passed out thinking he was dead, then came too later on. I think the reason he passed out though was due to being upside down and taking in water rather than an illness, but she's still keeping an eye on him just to be sure.

The good news is he seems to be doing fine so far. She's getting him a dock tonight so she can get rid of the rock that's in there.
