Venustus Question

So i have 4 Venustus, that i picked up when i was down state a few months ago, there doing well. About 3 inches in length, What im wondering is if there is something specific to look for to tell the difference between male and femal. Of course im hoping for both. Cause i would like for them to spawn. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The very first thing you'll probably find to distinguish them is a very slight blue shine on the cheeks. Also look for a stronger blaze through the dorsal fin and/or a slight blaze coming in on the forehead.

Do remember that these are fish that grow to 10"-12"! It takes time for them to mature. I'd say by around 4-5" you should start figuring out the males unless they're being kept with other more dominant and aggressive species.

Yeah i had done some googling. And looked at pic's. I was moreso hoping for some first hand experience with them. This site usually helps with any questions i have. If not, then google is my reliable source...
