Depending where you're at, Moby Dicks might not be  too far.

Keys Aquarium and Pets: http://www.keesaquarium.com/, I have found that neither has tons of cichlids, but do stock general fish items, and have both salt and freshwater.

ok thanks guys, it seems odd that there is no "real"pet store around here, but I guess because they have a lot of the Chain pet stores.

I know this is an older thread, but if you haven't found some shops locally yet, you're only 30-40 minutes from Mody Dick's in Waterford (mentioned above) and Highland Tropical- 10655 Highland Road, White Lake, MI
I use both for Central/South Americans and both have a good selection of Africans and freshwater community. Moby's also has a large salt water section

And if your going to make the drive you may as well go to The Pet Supplier, it's just down (or up) the road from Highland at Duck Lake Road.
