going to need some help

Im going to be getting my paws on a 6ft 220 gallon tank with built in over flows and drilled in the bottom.

I want to set up a sump for this tank and I have the stuff to do it I think

I have a return pump, a sump wet/dry system and a 60 gallon tank to put under it(inside the stand)

I will also have a few 405 fluvals going along with a ac110

What will I need besides help?

Any substrate that you would use in a non-drilled tank.

Ron, Thanks for the quick answer but since i have never worked with a tank thats drilled at the bottom, do i just at "stack pipe's" to the holes above the substrate level?

It may be drilled at the bottom, but it should have a PVC pipe and and overflow kit.
Also need a return pipe.

Stop my Great Lakes aquariums, they can set you up with missing pieces.

If it bhas built in overflows it shouldn't get any substrate to the bulkheads... the pipe you are talking about is your stand pipe there are many options out there but the best would be a straight pipe cut 1 to 2 feet under the waterlevel in the ove3rflow. Then put a sponge as a prefilter on the pipe.

As for your sump it may be too small for a tank that size so building one with that 60 gallon maybe ideal for this

The guys above answered it well. A tank drilled on the bottom is nearly the same as a tank drilled on the back, except you've got a bulkhead to a pipe to extend where the water is siphoning into the "drain".

If for some reason you decide you'd rather it not be drilled, just get some glass cut as block-off plates and silicone them in place before you setup the tank.

I spoke with the guy who Im getting the tank from and there are built in overflow's so the holes wont be exposed to substrate.

Now the sump set up is where I will be picking your brains:)

Good info.  I have seen tanks on craigs list that are usually for salt water, and I wondered how they worked.  May consider one.  I think an overflow would do a good job  of hiding filter tubes and so forth.

My tank is done with a overflow and everything is hard plumbed but the pump.
Building a sump is really easy especially since it will be for freshwater a lot of people seem to over complicate the idea of if. You can make one out of 2 five gallon buckets and a rubbermaid tote. The big thing is finding something to use for bio media. I like to use bio balls but other people find other things to use. The biggest thing is having good surface area for bacteria to grow the more you have the better off you are. A good one that is generally easy to get is plastic shotgun wads.
