WOW. What a great Auction / Vendor Swap!!!
« on: May 04, 2013, 07:43:08 PM »
MCA is just a super club.  We had a great day today.  This was the first time we've done a late spring auction.  Was everything perfect?  Far from it but we learned a LOT and hope to make things even better going forward.  Even though our total bag count was down by like 40%-50% our previous auctions, with the help of our raffles, t-shirt sales, concessions, and vendors the club with net about the same as a normal auction.  That is AMAZING!

It was great to have the vendors there.  I was able to pick up like 10 pleco caves for $40 -  :o from Plecocaves.com, 15 Tropheus Kachese from Oyers, and 12 Red Ancistrus, 30 Red Sakura Shrimp, 8 Lelupi, and 8 Juli Regani from Durkins.  These purchases would not have been possible in the normal auction and without the support of our awesome vendors.

Hagen's donation of the FX6 was a huge help in generating revenue for the club as well as all the other donations from other manufacturers and club members.  These donations where EXTREMELY appreciated!

Thanks to ALL the volunteers today including our Auction Chairman Tony G who was unable to make it today but put a ton of work into making this a successful event over the past few weeks.

Over all It was a great event, lots of smiles, lots of hand shakes and some great deals.

I would Like to thank everyone who stopped and said Hi and or bought something.

Thanks to Marty and Lana for doing the hard part of the auction (keeping track of sales).

Once again I am very proud to say I am a member of MCA!!

Thanks for a great Day and it was great to see all the kids running around and having fun:)

Additional thoughts...

I'm SUPER HAPPY to get the Neolamprologus Lelupi Karilani I sold off a while back.  Thanks Ron.

There are some cool people in this club.  Not only did I take home 3 bags of fish that where just given to me but a number of people gave me some great deals too.

The coney dogs I had for lunch where pretty darn good.  Thanks for working the kitchen Tricia!

Other than trying to go down in pricing while auctioning his first ever bag (  ;D ) I thought Dominic did an excellent job.  Far better than I would have done.

It was nice to see the kids there today.  Even better to see them taking home fish stuff!

We had a lot of new people volunteering to help today.  That was awesome.  And so the old timers don't feel unappreciated their work was great too...   ;)

The vendor tables were vey cool,  I hope we can continue that.  I Reallyenjoyed durkins table I usually dont do the fancy plecos because the price tag buti was able to pick up a royal for $15!  Definatly seemed to be a lot less people probably the time of year.  I was able  to make some   purchases but was pretty bummed about my sales.

All and all I had a blast but would really like to see all those tables filled with bags and all those chairs filled with butts for then next one.

Everybody who read the bags off.
All the auctioneers
All the runners.
All volunteers in general.

There's many many more , but this is just off the top of my head & remember I've had 1hr of sleep in the past 48hrs. So please don't get upset if I missed you. You know what you've done & I greatly appreciate you helping the MCA succeed.

Big Don for making balloons for the kids.
I thought that was SUPER cool..  I've seen many balloon artists and Big Don has skills.
Thanks for the blue pony, gave it to my daughter when we got home and she loved it

Vendors were a nice addition, tons of items.
Always nice to put faces to names, met a few more ppl.
Only came home with 1 bag (and a shirt), but there were many quality selections to be had.   First time with my wife and baby in tow, she thought it was neat to see the club in action and that the forum I constantly troll really exists.
Great time, wish we could have stayed longer or better yet walked away with the FX6 :(

Kudos to MCA!  ;)

Btw, I missed out on some nice White Knights anyone remember who selling them?

Had a great time.  Came home with calvis... thats good all by itself.

I was thrilled my son didnt give me a hard time one bit, but I did have to take off a little earlier.

I also kick myself for not jumping in on the White Knights.  >:(

Thanks everyone!

I'm short on sleep like Blair (Regalblue), ~4 hours of combined sleep since ~5am Friday morning (2, 2 hour segments  :-\), so I'll keep it short:
All in all, it was a fantastic event like always and a great opportunity to see old friends and meet new ones.

It was also nice to see the participation was good since this was the nicest Saturday in SE MI in at least a month. Next year I think it should be schedule it for a rainy/snowy one instead.  :P

Um, excuse me? I think I was auctioning some fish, thanks.

But yeah, thanks. I'm not so sure you couldn't have done that though. You raffle pretty well!  :D

I'd pretty much like to echo everyone else on the board and thank everyone that helped make this happen.  This was an experiment that gave us a lot of information about how to move forward with a spring auction/swap.

I expect we'll do it again next year, hopefully we can get an earlier date that doesn't conflict with when Chicago holds theirs.  I think our greatest enemy for this auction was the nice sunny day, but I would still look at the day as a success.

It was a fun time.  My first MCA auction.  Won some drift wood in the raffle (although I really wanted those apisto vejietas and the longfin rams).  Picked up a nice trio of apistpo caucotoides triple red.
