All male peacock/small hap

How many peacocks/small haps do you think would be comfortable in a standard 55. Males only

Some are already 3" but extremely passive. what saddens me most is having to possibly move out my fave, a 5" electric blue

I think the OP was asking with regards to final size/stocking. I fail to see how 20-30 4"-6" fish would be comfortable in a 48"x12" footprint.

IMO 12-15. You could initially start higher with the numbers Frenchie suggested, but you'd have to whittle them down as they grow.

I was referring to the final size which should be about 5-6" on most of the fish. They are all close to 3.5" now except for the electric blue who is about 4.5. I'm thinking if I clear out some randoms and drop a few more males in the mix my electric blue might mellow
a lil.

I'm not sure I'd consider the S. fryeri to be a "small hap". I'd say he's more middle of the road and in a tank that size the best thing might be to either add so much rockwork that it's hard for him to pursue everyone or take the opposite route and remote whatever "structure" he's using to try and define his territory.

Totally agree with you on him not being a small hap especially after seeing a 9"male in person.  Just trying to prolong him being in the tank because his color is amazing. Yet I dont want to stress out any of the other fish in the tank by doing so. Thats why I come ask the pros.
