Paint?
« on: November 13, 2011, 11:10:40 AM »
Another thing ive been wondering is if anyone here has done any painting of anything, PVC, rocks, redoing and in tank decor of anysort. From what i have found online in the past, is that the Krylon Fusion is safe after it cures. Possibly some first hand experience from someone would help... :D :D

I've read where do it yourselfers have painted decorations for saltwater aquariums and then sealed them with epoxy before placing them in an aquarium.  I haven't done it myself, I've just painted the backs/sides on the outside.

you gotta drainthe water just below the decoration and spray-a-way.  If you leave the water in the tank you have to use a brush and oil based paint :P

I was very worried about doing it but I tried it on some PVC that I made a power head filter from and it works great, been in the water for about 6 months and it's fine.
Thx,
Phill

I just did research on paint for aquariums and I've read people having success with Krylon Fusion and Rust-oleum Plastic Spray (similar ingredients). But letting it cure for maximum time. I believe is 5-7 days. I would definitely let it sit for no less than a week if I were to keep anything submerged. I'm in the process of using Rust-oleum plastic spray right now.
