I scored 5 BN plecos for $10 yesterday  :D
Here's pic of one of them.  Is this a "Calico" BN?

Could be stress coloration.  Give it a day or two more to settle then check again.

Mine are a tannish/orange with dark markings, I would'nt give up on the ones you have.

I've never had plecos breed in any of my tanks but if they do - bonus!

Look like a regular brown.  I have just about all the color morphs and I have browns that look like that.
The calicos mentioned appears to be more red/orange.  My green dragons are more solid.

Enjoy and for $2 you can't go wrong!

They seem to have acclimatized and looking more brown, the lines of the spots are still visible just not as pronounced as the first day.
