Stingray Bay - 9 Mile in Eastpointe
« on: February 19, 2013, 05:39:57 PM »
So, I finally got a chance to stop in on my way home from the airport.

Great store!  Surprised it isnt listed here yet!

Very clean.  People were very friendly.  Descent selection of cichlids.  I wasnt able to really look good as far as pricing goes, but I was very happy and will be back for sure.

And then of course.... about the best selection of Rays I have ever seen.

Glad I was able to make it in.

Greg and staff are very helpful and the place is just "happy" They always seem to have that certain part I need when fixing a filter or something. They have a very Nice live Plant selection in the back now and if you are into saltwater this is the place to go:)

Just got back from there.  Great store.  Good live plant selection.  Nice hardware and dry goods.  Tanks were very clean.  Decent selection of Cichlids.  The only thing wrong I could find was ich in the Blue Acara tank.  Staff seemed very friendly.

Post in Want to Buy and you may get better response.  What type of geos?  I knew a guy in Dearborn Heights area that had Geo Balzanii fry for fairly cheap a while back.

I haven't been there yet, but they've gotten recommended by a couple of friends of mine.  I don't know why i haven't gone there yet, since they're so close.   :)

Been there several times, but have not been there in a few years.  They had good/fair prices.  Staff was ok.  The problem with some pet stores is they wear street clothes and it's hard to tell who works there and it looks a bit unprofessional.

I know Greg use to work at Greenwoods on 9 mile but then left to open this store that was 10 years ago.

Greg is a nice guy, and is very fair.   It's worth a visit.

There fresh watter can use a once over and possibly go big and start getting those expensive fresh watter that may shelf for a month or so before selling , It would be nice to see a range of cichlids Old And New World Lg and Sm both , But what ever is there bread and butter do what works . Let me translate that for you.

The title is fitting. Sting rays are the primary livestock. The fish prices are top notch in my opinion. They have a great selection of salt water fish and even get some oddballs. The freshwater section could use some sprucing up. I recommend going big and bring in some expensive fish that may have a lower turnover. I would appreciate being able to purchase Old and New World cichlids of all sizes at this establishment. However, I digress, they should stick to what they are doing if it so pleases them. The staff are wonderful and are always willing to disperse knowledge of many products, and they are friendly to boot.

Went there today.  As usual, great store, clean tanks.  This place is the benchmark on the east side.

Went there today for the second time.  Their tanks are clean and they have a decent collection of fish.  I was looking to German Rams but they did not have them.  They had a GREAT deal on a Discus.  The tank said $40.  But the gentleman said that he would get me a price and they sold it to me for $10.  What a great birthday present to myself. :) It is a little beat up but I am sure that I can get it back in shape.  They have some of the best prices on tanks that I have seen.
