Hello from Oscoda, MI.
« on: February 12, 2013, 12:32:49 AM »
Hello everyone. This is the second fish keeping forum I have joined in as many months.

10+ years ago I was raising and selling cichlids, but things changed, and I have been out of that part since.

But now I am back.

I have a brand new, unused fish room, but going over things in the room these last few weeks, I have decided to dial it down, at least by half, or more, of what I have in there. 130+ tanks are in there now. Just moving things around in  there is killing me.  :o

There is no way I can do what I am doing now, and try and manage 40+ breeding groups, as the fish room was setup to do. But I think I can manage 10 breeding groups, I should be able to handle that by myself, I hope.  ;D

Thanks.

Welcome. I spend a TON of time in Oscoda (and Glennie/East Tawas area). Got a cabin on the Au Sable at Five Channels dam right at the m65 bridge. My favorite area in the whole state.

Sounds like you have a ton of tanks, look forward to seeing some pics when you get them set back up.

I just may be taking you up on that offer sooner than later. Have any fry available, or maybe some breeding groups you mentioned? ;D

I sold the the breeding groups I had, many years ago.

I only kept 1 breeding group, and that is my WC Demasoni. No fry at this time, sorry.

All I have is tanks (empty) and stands at this point.  $700 per stand, includes tanks. Never been used.

I am looking for some yellow labs right now, to start a new breeding group.

Out of the original 9 WC I had purchased in 2000, I have only, 2 male, 4 Females left.

I have kept some fry over time, the best looking ones with the traits I liked. I have another tank with about 15 in there now.

Over the last few years, I have tried my best to keep the spawning down, by regulating tank temps, and doing minimal water changes, etc..

When I do get fry, I sell them pretty quickly, and most of the time to the same person. I think he resells most of them.

So are you planning on setting up the fish room as a breeding room? or gonna just set up as some everyday fish now? Ethier way is cool IMO., just wondered what direction you are going is all.
