Gobies plus ?
« on: December 02, 2012, 12:04:37 AM »
Just got some gobies and put em in a 33gal long tank. The tank is only 13" high, nice for viewing being 56" off the floor but doesn't leave much room for fish. Anyone recomend something small that might get along. Thanks Bob

Tanganyikan Gobies? Eretmodus or tanganicodus irsacae? I have kept them with shellies before and they did well together.

if they are eretmodus, i wouldn't expect them to last long in a small tank -- i had 4 that barely coexisted in a 180g, with constant full tank chases the norm.  tried to downsize them into a 75g and they were back into the 180g within a couple days.  on the plus side, they pretty much ignored all other tank mates.

They are Tanganyika Eretmodus cyanostictus Malasa Island.I did read where you only keep pairs or there are problems. The site I bought them from suggests Peacocks or trophs but the tank is small for either. I was thinking punks or something that size but have never kept smaller peaceful fish other than punks (sorry don't know their name) so if anyone has any thoughts on something small for a 4 foot 13" high tank it would be helpful. I probably should have researched better before I bought them but it was a quick last minute decision. Thanks for the replies, Bob

I really have no idea in that tank size.  i had troph's and julies in my 180g with them -- they ignored them all and just beat up on each other.   in between battles they all had their own spot claimed in the rocks in diff. parts of the tank.

Hardley any fish seem ( in my experince ) seem to bother Gobies to much they stay low and dont seem to bring out aggresion in other fish
Tasha & Geronimoe gone but never forgotten
