Rare Earthquake Near DC
« on: August 23, 2011, 10:07:41 PM »
I heard people at the Pentagon were afraid it was another terrorist attack....scary nonetheless for an area not accustomed to earth quakes.

BTW, does anyone remember the quake felt here in the mid-late 80's???

I felt the quake here!  Thought I forgot my meds, or needed more meds, or something.
I used to be a people person... but people ruined that for me.

Yesterday I thought I felt shaking sitting at work, but didn't say anything until my colleague asked me if I thought the building was shaking. I said I felt something too and joked that perhaps it was an earthquake. Then an hour later I saw the news reports - good to know I'm not going crazy.  ;D

I was waiting for the punchline Ron...I thought you were kidding.
That's amazing that you guys felt it here in Michigan. I wonder if there were any other reports from our area that felt it too? Or was it possibly our own mini-quake triggered by the other one?

I've seen on some other MI-based, though non-fish forums that other people felt it too. I also saw a few news paper articles that it was even felt by some on the western side of the state. Most people were sitting and in a multi-story building when they noticed it. I was sitting in on the fifth floor of a 5-story building.

About 1-1.5 years ago there was another earthquake that was felt here in SE MI. I remember that I ran out for 15 minutes to get some lunch, was apparently walking in the parking lot coming back to the building when it happened, then the entire office was talking about how cool it was .... left me confused at first and then feeling left out cause I'd missed it! >:(

Glad I didn't miss this last one - kind of cool to experience for once, as slight as it was.  :)
