Another Hobby of Mine~very Pic Heavy!!!
« on: August 24, 2011, 04:21:01 PM »
Here are some pics of model kits I have built in the past. These are plastic unbuilt kits, not diecast  pre-assembled cars. I did all the paint, assembly, and decal work.
Unfortunately I haven't done any kits in a long time and had to sell off most of my collection.
At one time I had a collection of over 500 kits, both built and waiting to be built. I also had a large collection of collectible old kits that were kept sealed for value.
Hope you enjoy the pics.

Outstanding work. But i could not help but chuckle when i saw "Ward Burton's" car. All i could think about when i was that was how every weekend i would wait in anticipation to see how he was going to take his own car out. Granted he didn't have an accident every weekend, it just seemed like it.   ;D

When I was younger and had more steady hands I used to put model cars together. I once put a 64 Impala together that I bought a "hydraulic kit" for. That was really cool lol. Did you paint all of these?

Yep, I did all the work to them. I liked to buy aftermarket decals that were never available in a store bought kit and build the cars using them....especially after the manufacturers had to stop including beer and tobacco sponsors in the kits.

Very nice. I dabbled in the plastic kits and then went with the die cast ones. In the future I'll probably get back into doing the plastic kits. They are definitely labor & detail intensive, but your options with them are limitless.

There are some people that opt to change the finish product of a store bought diecast using paint and aftermarket decals. I'm not sure if it's because they aren't confident, patient, or talented enough to do a plastic kit.
I never had an inclination to even buy a diecast instead of a plastic kit. Not even the diecast-plastic hybrids that are out there.
