BN plecos and silicone
« on: February 01, 2017, 10:01:18 PM »
I noticed the silicone in my tanks look like its being eaten on. Im beginning to think the bn plecos are eating on the silicone and destroying it. Has anyone else ever have this problem with there plecos. I would think they pry could do some damage. Thanks

I suppose it could be possible, it sounds like they are trying to eat the algae off the silicone and lost silicone is simply a by product. i notice my plecos running up and down the seams, ive not paid much attention to them.

if you are doing your own resealing make sure to find the aquarium type, otherwise if you are worried about the fish health silicone is pretty neutral it should pass right through.

others correct me if im wrong but a tank can still be of good/sound construction with only the seal between the glass.
