Looking for a CARES species to raise in my classroom, any suggestions?

Haplochromis sp. "Ruby Green" is a Lake Victoria cichlid on the CARES list. It can easily be raised/breed in a 20 long. They are very prolific and drop dead gorgeous.  We'd be happy to contribute a group (1m, 5f) if you need.

What tank size?   Are you looking to do a Cichlid or just any CARES species?

Awesome the ruby greens sound great:) Are they similar to hap 44s for care and temperament? I am going to have to get out to you place for the afra hara now:)
I am looking for CARES species that do not need large tanks (55 gallon or less) and that are interesting/colorful and/or really endangered and need to be kept in a pure colony. 
I have lots of basic cichilds (fulleborni, acei ngara, peacocks etc.) but I am thinking of moving more to CARES species for student learning.

I have Astatotilpia Anecolor, great fish for 20 gallon tank and breeding all ready at just over 1".  Just another option.  Also have pseudotropheus saulosi depending on your tanks size.

Let me know.  They are relatively peaceful and very easy to care for, and a group should do fine in a 20 long. If you want to go bigger (tank), then they will do well with most.

I'd say the Ruby Greens are right up your alley.  Easy, peaceful, spawn like crazy & a 55 would be a great sized tank for them. (I wouldn't put them in anything smaller, unless I'm growing out fry)
