29G Freshly Planted and Planted Fluval Spec V
« on: November 26, 2013, 07:36:27 PM »
Hey guys, new to the forum, actually found it while trying to find some sort of local aquarium club.

This is my second planted tank that I recently set up, I also have a Fluval Spec V with a lone Betta that I paid way too much for at Petco knowing what I know now. In fact, I probably would have taken a different direction stocking wise. The Fluval has been running for 3-4 months now.

The new tank is a 29G dirted tank capped with pool filter sand.

I have an Aquaclear 50 for filtration, an Eheim Jäger 100w heater, and a Finnex 30" Planted+ light fixture.

The current inhabitants are 6 lemon tetras and 2 german blue rams. They were purchased from Fantastic Fins in Livonia this Saturday and they have acclimated amazing well, in fact the rams are already guarding a batch of eggs!

I'm thinking of picking up a few more lemon tetras as they have colored up beautifully and if Fins has any I'd like some pygmy cories. Any other suggestions?

Looking forward to learning from you guys and if this goes well setting up a major 100+ gallon show tank in the future!

Welcome.  Looks great!  I've been looking into planted tanks recently but only have crypts and similar low light plants in one tank right now.

Nice looking 29g.  If your Rams are already breeding they must be pretty happy with the environment you've created.

Always cool to see how a tank progresses over time. It looks really nice. I've always wanted to try a planted tank, but the few times I dabbled with plants I always seem to have problems with algae.
