When my father kept fish, one of the angels developed a cyst or tumor.  My mother pulled it out of the tank, cut it out, dosed it with something, threw it back in the tank.  It loved a couple more years.

Hmm - if she would have known that people will be hundreds of dollars to save their fish, she could have retired a lot earlier with a lot more money.
