I made the mistake of limiting my wife to 2 cats (she's a closet crazy cat lady) so she limits me to 2 tanks.
But I do NEED a qt tank and the small betta tank doesn't count ::)

I tried to tell her I'd get rid of the 29 gallon for a 150 and still only have 2 tanks, but she wasn't buying it :-\

I started off asking for a 6 foot tank and got talked down into a 4 foot tank, she almost fainted when she saw the 110 gallon 4'x2' base tank on our front porch, lol, I think she was expecting a 29 gallon in her mind lol

I don't think she would mind my having a basement full of aquariums, just only one or two in our living space, oh and the money aspect keeps coming up, how I'm never satisfied and done, how I keep needing more stuff, etc..

I don't ask her why she needs more expensive yarn when she hasn't made anything out of the stuff she already has

I think it helps if you can pick out space in your basement, fishroom, or wherever that you want to put tanks and then just rotate stock through those tanks as you are successful breeding them, get bored of the species, etc.  This has worked much better for me (and my wife) the past 5-6 months instead of constantly rearranging tanks and taking the time and money to meet up with CL or fish forum folks to buy new tanks, etc.  I still switch out tanks from time to time but try to make them fit in those designated spaces.  Whatever you do, try to not interrupt supper or other plans to go run 'fish errands.'  ;)

I did almost make an exception to this when I bought a new Evolve 8 a week ago for some nano fish, but I put it away for now...maybe a mid-winter project.  Plus my desk is finally cleaned off for the first time since we moved into the house...we'll see how long that lasts.  :)

Oh, and to be fair, yarn isn't nearly as expensive as a new (or used) fish tank...though I'm sure it adds up over time.  Maybe you need to ask her to knit you a new hat or something to get the ball rolling.  :)

Just dont ask. Problem solved
That's been my solution for well over a year, but she stays quiet as long as they're downstairs.
Best Tip - ask nicely and be reasonable.  :)  And remember she's far more important than your fish...so at the end of the day, would you rather have her or a tank (30 tanks) full of cichlids?
Would you really like me to answer that?  :P

Probably best if you don't.  ;)

Didn't you just tell me you are putting a second tank in the bedroom?
Yes but it'll be under the existing one. ;)

It really is a sickness. I know I don't have anywhere near the amount of tanks some of you guys have, but I'm not into the breeding aspect of it so I started back into fish again exactly 1 year ago and planned on having just a 29g and that was it. Now I have 265g, 55g, 55g, 29g, 20g, 20g, 10g .....bunch of "enablers" around this place!  >:( lol ;D

Haha 2 cats is plenty, I wouldn't change that deal, heck I'd give up some tanks to get rid of the cats, lol just kidding

I like the last tip. An extra bonus would be that I get the tank and also get to keep the $50 I "paid" for the amazing deal.

Crap, she might see this. DELETE DELETE DELETE!!!
