Look like a Nimbochromis species to me. Probably Fusco

This is not Melanochromis exaspertus recently reclassified to Labidochromis joanjohnsonae,  Unless you are referring to something else.

Definitely not a mbuna.

They look most like N. fuscotaeniatus. The camo patterning should extend throughout their entire bodies though and in the image it looks like only the upper half has any camo coloration ... ?

What size are these fish?

These are about 2 inches. I bought them from Soldan's in Bay City. They looked really neat so I picked them up spontaneously when I was looking for some Ruby Reds that I have yet to get a hold of.

They are cool fish, but will need a 6' tank in time as they tend to get fiesty once older. If in the next 1-1.5" the camo pattern on the sides only stays in the upper half, I'd be skeptical that they are pure fuscotaeniatus.

Def fiesty. I have three of them. As of now my OB peacock for some has them dominated. I think I will be Moving each one of them to different tanks if I decide to keep them.
