Electrical
« on: November 11, 2013, 02:46:00 PM »
I will be using a GFI outlet to plug in everything. I've read about grounding rods in the tank, but will kill everything in the tank if there ever is a short. I don't think I'll be using that. What about breakers in the panel anybody using a specialty breaker for water tanks? Or is anybody doing anything special other than say drip loops. Also what precautions do you take for a power outage. ie that nasty black out in 2003. Thanks again in advance for your input.

I think you are over thinking it.

Just don't overload your outlets and have drip loops.

Wouldn't be the first time i've heard that ;D
Just stuff I've read and wanted to see what other people are doing. I figured I'd ask now before the tank and all the equipment come to my house.

If I figured everything out correctly I'd be pulling alittle over 700watts,  and converting watts to amps it would be between 5 and 6 amps. I wasn't sure if I needed a 20 amp outlet for the tank setup.

Be careful what you divulge Steve, right now you are walking on clouds in the MCA with your tank builds.   :P
