species question

I just recently aquired a red shoulder peacock he is beautiful.   I have been looking up others on YouTube and some people are referring to them as German red shoulder peacocks and I thought a German red peacock had a mostly blue head with a more red body whereas the red shoulder only had red in the shoulder area.   Can anybody shed some light on this for me.   Also I think I have found the actual name of this fish to be Auloncara hansbaenschi is this correct? Looking for any answers?

After talking to everyone here... I realize the problems with using the common name.  Nothing is regulated on the common names. 

I think you are finding the exact reason that common names can be misleading.

Yep, you're right that it is aulonocara hansbaenschi. The red shoulder is not the same thing as a german red which is the blue face and red body where as the red shoulder is the blue body and red shoulder.

FWIW, in the "german red"-type peacocks, you'll find some coloration variance among them. Some are brighter and some are darker.

As for using Youtube as a fact-finding mechanism, unless the person speaking is well known in the hobby or has some very good scholastic qualifications, I wouldn't trust much of anything on Youtube. Every idiot with a camera phone posts stuff on there and the amount of inaccurate information I've seen is astonishing.

You're not kidding.  You really have to take what you read and see on the internet with a grain of salt.

Thanks again guys.  I do not use youtube as a research tool usually if I do want to look something up I tend to use Cichlid forum it seems quite reliable from what I can tell.  I was mostly on youtube to see what other peoples fish looked like to compare.
