3000 gallon filter for pond. Light comes on when it needs to be cleaned. Maybe pipe in a ball valve to regulate flow. Depending on the pump size you decide to use, you might not even need to use one. Has a built in UV sterilizer. Good if you do not want to keep plants. What do you think? Good idea or bad? Thinking of adding this baby to a six foot tank.

I wouldn't do it... says for a 3000 gallon pond and max flow is 2300 gph thats my first red flag. Then you have to buy a pump but at the top it says plug and play... There is no brand name on it so what you might run into is having a hard time finding parts if it was to break or they don't make parts and you find out every six months you have to buy a new one.

Best bet for big tanks I say this all the time is a wet dry. You don't have to tear it apart every time you need to clean it just put a new filter pad in. On top of that you can hide your heater and a ton of other stuff. Plus you get the best 02 exchange with a wet dry as well. Then on top of that you can add a water refill to your wet dry so you are not always topping it off from evaporation.

Do you a good idea or good DIY wet dry filter video to reference for a 100G no overflow not drilled. I have a 5 Gal bucket from work that has a small twist off lid. I am going to attempt to make my own canister filter. I have a good idea to fill it will little scrubbies from the dollar store. Add a bulkhead on the twist off lid and some kind of pre filter fitting  that would attach to the bulkhead easy with filter floss that is easy to change for the intake. At the bottom, add another bulkhead for the return. It would be able to withstand pressure easily. I may do a video. If something doesnt work, someone could put some insight on it.

I love My diy wet dry made it out of a square kitty litter box.  It fits perfect in my 45 gallon sump.  I have a buddy that diy a canister filter out of pvc pipe it required no overflow, just a pump.
