I use a pipe tap so you can screw them in.

Have you ever used a tap for them? It's really easy to tap being that it's PVC and then the valves are really easy to screw in.  ;)

Yeah thats what im talking about using! I like the thick stuff better then thin wall just so I can feel like a man using 16 different tools for one job.

Yes I have tried a tap.  It doesn't go in much easier than without IMO.

Well a 3/8 Irwin drill bit in the clearance bin at aco($2.00) and the valves screw right in tights as you can ask for.

and after adding that center pipe and getting rid of those super long air line tubes, all is running. I still have a few tanks that Need flower pots under the filter but he its decoration:)
