Coolest hybred ever
« on: June 04, 2013, 04:56:12 AM »
I was at Royal Tropical today and damn they had the coolest looking fish I have seen in years. I know some guys here don't care for hybreds, but this one was marked "Lab/t.reef cichlid" and DAMN was it sweet looking. It looked like a yellow lab with a purple face and blue belly. It was really nice looking. They wanted $39.99 for it though :P That was just too much IMO, I would have went maybe $29 at the most, but it sure was cool looking. I don't think I have ever seen that mix before.

I saw those Saturday.  Definitely nice looking.  I'd like to know what they're mixed with as they looked almost pure Yellow Lab.

I seen it today.  Pretty cool for a cross breed.  Would be nice for a show tank.

I could probably sell fry from my F0 COTA X F1 Rapps Trimacs as FH to make few more bucks than straight quality would bring....Sad thing is it would likely work.

Seen them today with Jcunningham0295 and I'm disappointed.  I currently have a nice Male 125g show tank and I completely dislike the line bred fish.  That includes the OB peacock, Dragon blood, etc.....  Hobby or not I dislike the "hybreds."

The "hybrid hype" is over and done.  Preserving quality bloodline lines for generations to come means more than profit.

Might be be why I am sitting sitting on more cool fish than I have room for :o

Not everyone likes hybreds, that's understandable because some people want strict bloodlines. Personally I could care less about that aspect, I have my tanks because I enjoy watching pretty fish, nothing more. So fish like that hybred I think are beautiful. I would never breed/sell them to water down the hobbies blood line, but for fish that look nice and to keep in a show tank, nothing at all wrong with hybreds.
