Can you name a fish that was once popular that you dont see much anymore? For me its M. Auratus after going to the last 4 auctions I've seen this fish only once. Can you think of any others that deserve a come back?

Rainbow cichlids (herotilapia multispinosa) were apparently quite popular 10+ years ago.  I didn't see them at all for most of last year (except once at Fins) but have seen them here and there more often recently.  Quite a pretty CA cichlid.

I noticed that true M. auratus aren't so common anymore, but the "dwarf auratus" shows up disappointingly often.

Really nice M. estherae "Red Zebra" aren't very common anymore. The prices on the ones that do show up seem to have sharply risen as well! (You know who you are ...  )

High quality L. caeruleus were hard to find for a while, but I believe they are trending up.

P. electra used to be really common in the area, but are less so now.

A lot of stuff is cyclic though because it's market driven.

This is an excellent point.  Last summer I was looking for a lot of fish that were more popular a couple years prior...and had to realize I could wait, or else pay through the nose to get what (to me) was a $5-10 fish.    Part of the fun of the hobby now is the anticipation of adding a species I've wanted for a while (months)...which I realize is nothing compared to some of you who finally get fish you've wanted for years and years.

And what about the well behaved Keyhole cichlid, Havn't seen that on at any auctions either.
