Lemon Jake Breeding
« on: March 03, 2013, 06:08:05 PM »
I have a trio of lemon jakes (m,f,f) i have been trying to get to breed for almost 5 months now. I have no clue why it hasnt happened yet. Are there any "tricks" I can try, I have tried the massisve water change trick along with the feeding a large meal trick that i read about but no luck. Im sure i just need to be more patient but just wondering if there is anything else i can try. They are in a 29 gal with just those three fish in it.
Thanks.

Maybe they are not mature enough yet? An adult trio in a 29 maybe an issue as well.

For what its worth constant great water quality is key for getting about anythang to mate in my expierance at least. Can try raising the temp just a little makes them a little more active and boost their metabalisum Slightly. A good feeding of brine shrimp I have heard works for some people. I feed it anyways so not sure what the validity is to that. I'm tring to get some eureka jakes to mate with my wild caught otter pointt rite now. I picked up a few good quality females. One of them was holding. But I wasn't sure if it happened in my tank or from the previous breeder so I Let them go.  Keep us posted I'm curious as to what will work in for you.  Good luck
