$1 digital thermometers
« on: February 25, 2013, 07:12:59 AM »
Well... for $1, I figured what the heck.

I got 5 of them.  All within a degree of each other.  I figure that is accurate as any floating typical glass thermometer and it is right there staring me in the face whenever I look at the tank.

I got them of ebay.

I've got the exact same one on my beta/cory cat tank. One word of caution, check it against a regular thermometer after a few months just to make sure it's still working right. Mine worked fine for the first 2-3 months but then after about 3 months it started going south and reading 3-5 degrees below actual temp for some reason. So just make sure to check it every once in awhile against a mercury one just to make sure your not losing temp.

I have Corallife and had the same problem, mine also periodically flashed.  I even wrote the company to express my disappointment and didn't receive a reply.
I changed the battery and that seemed to fix it, I keep another thermo close by.
Hope they work out for ya.

They way I look at it... they are as accurate as the cheap floating/suction cup thermometers.  But, with these... I look at them all the time.

If I see the temperature start to change, I will make sure it isnt the thermometer failing.
