Digital Thermometer

After having a heater take a crap on us... I think I want to get a digital thermometer.  Something that is super easy to glance at and check the temperature.

Who is using one and what kind?

That's funny ken did you see my post eairlier. I had a heater mess vup and raised my temp. Pretty high. I went bought a new one and a digital theromoneters.  More than likely I will get different ones I don't like how the. Petsmart digitals sit on top of the tank.   Seems to work better than the standard glass ones. Easy to read

I stay away from the digital ones. Most of my fish pull them into the tank & then destroy them.

Yeah, that was part of what got me looking.  I had a floating thermometer fall apart, so I need a new one.
But, I find myself only looking at the floating kind when I do water changes once a week.  I want something quick and easy to glance at.

The heater that went bad... the tank went up to about 86 and stayed there no matter what.  Got a new heater.

I hope to find an accurate digital one that I can use that isnt a fortune.

The ones I got were only $10 each.  I put the probe by a power head kind of far from one of the heaters. Figured id get the most accurate. Reading in that area.  This tank is now down to 82 degrees. I'm going to leave it there for a few days and start lowering it again.

I had one for a while, but it got water logged too many times.  Whenever I could I would put the sensor in something that was not directly in the tank.  On my 125 I put the sensor in the overflow, and I had it in the back of my ac110 until it finally fizzled out.  Being that I only have a few tanks now I just try to grab a cheap stick on thermometer for my tanks so I can have a general idea where I'm at.

I think the Lifeguard "BIG DIGITAL" ones are excellent IMO. I have two of them, one of each of my 55g's and they are dead acurate when compared to my floating one I have tested them against. I also have one of the $8/$9 Coralife digital ones and I wouldn't use one of those again if someone paid me too. I had that one on my 10g Beta tank and it worked fine for the first month, now it swings as much as 10-12 every few seconds.
