A proposal for Jeff
« on: December 29, 2012, 11:48:55 AM »
I couldn't help noticing that you've changed your signature line, and I'd like to offer my services to install your ceiling fan.  Now, I'm not a fancy "licensed" electrician like Tony, but I'll get the job done.

I've attached a couple of examples of the high caliber work I'm capable of doing when it comes to electrical work.  I'd also like to let you know that I can do this for the low, low installation price of $50.00 plus the cost of supplies.

Option #1
This would require a box fan, a screw in hook, chain or wire, and an extension cord.  There may be an issue with consistent breeze if you turn the fan on high and the box fan tends to sway back and forth.

Option #2
This will require an upright fan, a large roll of electrical tape, and an extension cord.  While not as pretty, as long as you use enough tape, you should get a steady breeze.  I would recommend splurging on the fancy version of the fan with a remote, so you don't have to use a long stick to adjust the settings or turn the fan on and off.  If you're cheap, you could always just set it on the speed you like and just unplug the cord when you're done.

Marty do you have another option for the fan to travel the distance of the room?

Yes, that would involve installing a ceiling track and a rope suspended from the bottom of the fan with a dog toy for Lily or Baxter to drag the fan around the room.  I didn't include it because it was significantly more expensive and I was nervous that one of the dogs would pull the whole thing down (Jeff's dogs are loco when they're playing).

See the ideas that come out of the province of canada are not too bad.

Option 1 would be most economical. Hooks could be hung throughout the house thus allowing the fan to be moved room to room. Voila!  Ceiling fans throughout the house.
